The Broken Hearts Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds for those who have lost their lives to drug overdose. We host monthly events: concerts, art shows & galas, where people can come together, donate, and support this important cause.
My journey has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows. From 2011 to 2020 years ago, I battled addiction to methamphetamine, cocaine, and Xanax, which led to my expulsion from Virginia Tech which ultimately led to my incarceration. It was during my time behind bars that I faced a profound wake-up call.
In 2020, I tragically lost two music compatriots to fentanyl overdose. Their deaths shook me to my core and sparked a fire within me. Out of that tragedy, the Broken Hearts Foundation was born. It's the culmination of my lifelong dream to make a difference through my music. Now, through the foundation, I'm determined to turn my past struggles into a force for good.
The mission of the Broken Hearts Foundation is clear: to prevent future generations from succumbing to the grip of opioid addiction. My own experiences have given me a unique perspective and a deep sense of empathy for those battling similar demons.
Music and art has always been my sanctuary, my voice when words fail me. So, it only made sense to weave it into the fabric of the foundation's work. Through music and our art, we aim to reach hearts, inspire change, and offer hope to those who need it most.
I'm committed to using every ounce of my being to ensure that the Broken Hearts Foundation makes a tangible difference in the fight against opioid addiction. Together, with the support of our community, I believe we can create a brighter, healthier future for generations to come.
Meet Tori Street, Vice President of The Broken Hearts Foundation. For the past seven years, addiction has been a relentless shadow in my life, casting its dark cloud over everything I held dear. Methamphetamine and cocaine held me captive, their grip tightening with each passing day. But amidst the chaos, I found a glimmer of hope in the form of Alex.
Alex and I met in the depths of our addiction, two lost souls desperately clinging to any semblance of humanity. Together, we made a pact to break free from the chains that bound us and embark on a journey to sobriety. It wasn't easy. Every step forward was met with the haunting echoes of our past, but we refused to let our demons define us.
As we clawed out of the abyss, we realized our purpose extended beyond our salvation. We saw countless others, innocent souls trapped by the allure of substances that promised an escape but delivered only despair. Marijuana, alcohol, nicotine—gateway drugs that led down a treacherous path to the abyss of addiction. I was one of the lucky ones, blessed with the strength to break free from the cycle of despair that ensnared my family for generations.
Now, fueled by the fire of our redemption, Alex and I have dedicated our lives to extending a lifeline to those still trapped in the throes of addiction. Through our shared experiences and unwavering determination, we strive to be beacons of hope in a world shrouded in darkness.
The opioid crisis rages on, claiming lives and shattering families with ruthless efficiency. But with each soul we rescue from the clutches of addiction, we strike a blow against the forces that seek to destroy us. Together, hand in hand, we stand united in our mission to turn the tide and build a future free from the chains of addiction.
